The Japanese Group Dynamics Association

The Japanese Group Dynamics Association (JGDA) is an academic society whose purpose is to promote research on group dynamics and encourage its practice. It was founded in 1950 in the belief that nothing is more practical than a good theory, and to promote use of the action research method.

By 1960, the JGDA began publishing its own journal, the Japanese Journal of Experimental Social Psychology (JJESP), on a regular basis. Today, the JJESP publishes a Japanese version annually, containing English language abstracts, academic papers, short reports, review papers, and book reviews. It accepts theoretical, experimental, and methodological studies in group dynamics, including those in social psychology. It also accepts basic quantitative, as well as applied or qualitative studies. Manuscripts for review are welcome and membership to the JGDA is the only requirement for publication.

In 1998, the JGDA also started issuing an English language journal in cooperation with the Asian Association of Social Psychology, entitled the Asian Journal of Social Psychology.

The JGDA also holds annual conferences. Members can participate by giving oral presentations, poster presentations, or by attending keynote addresses, symposia, and workshops.

There are about 800 domestic and international members currently active in the JGDA. Please join the JGDA and share in its stimulating academic and practical activities. If you would like to know more about the activities of the JGDA, please send an e-mail to the JGDA.
